Additional Information

What is Classical dancing?

Formally known as Old Time dancing, Classical, is danced in a formation with other dancers in a circle, all dancing the same steps at the same time.

In the 18th Century, the Victorians were dancing the original Waltz with its 3rd feet positions. Other dances that followed were the -

Two Step (1894)

Veleta (1898) &

Military Two Step (1900).

All these dances are still popular around the world today, and for the first time there has been an influx of children dancing this style of dance at Blackpool (2023).

What do I need to do if I am interested?

Please get in touch and register your interest. I currently have a few lady dancers who take private lessons to learn Classical. A selection of available days will be given to you so that we can start a class.

What am I working towards if I start dancing again?

1. An award system is in place to work through medals (Eg. Intro Awards and Bronze, Silver, Gold etc.)

2. We visit competitions 6 to 7 times a year. You are welcome to visit and watch these competitions to see if you like to join.

3. We have social nights 2/3 times a month on a Saturday, where you can come and enjoy dancing in a safe environment.

4. Your own personal development. Gain confidence, increase your life skills and make new friends.

How much will it cost?

In a class - £7.50 each, up to 20 people maximum (paid in monthly increments).

Private Lessons - £35 for two people.

Shoes - will be required after 4 weeks. These are an investment, but can cost from £20 - £120.

Dresses - practice skirts can be bought or made quite cheaply. Competition dresses are usually provided by local sponsors.
